The Numbers Trilogy

Showdown of The 3

Showdown Of The 3

FYI:

Originally filmed just for fun with no story and no effects.  When we decided to make a sequel, we re-shot it (this being the new version) and added a little more story line.

The entire trilogy was filmed in TriadScope (2.46:1).

Dealing with the sound was awful, the presence in each shot was different from the other, there'd either be traffic or crickets or cicada's or a lack thereof in each scene.

Editing this fight sequence took much longer than anticiapated and was the hardest edit I've done to date.

Spent extra time to light each scene so that it came off as more noir-ish.

The 2 Day Switch

FYI:

2 days before we were supposed to shoot I still didn't have any ideas for what the sequel would be about, so I made a playlist of Songs that I wanted to use and went jogging at night for about 80 minutes.  10 minutes into the jog the whole story came to me.

The flashback was the most time consuming to edit, needing about 10 hours to render and complete.

The scene taking place in the tunnel was a huge problem.  First it was all dialogue and second the sound was once again a huge problem.  In the end I added about 3 separate levels of presence and ambience to match the different sounds in each persons take.

The clip I'm watching at the end is from SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, which is the theme playing throughout the entire scene.

The 1 That Got Away

FYI:

This was also a really tough short to edit, intercutting a new fight with an already existing fight.

Contained 3 Visual effects all pertaining to two characters occupying the same space at the same time.

This was nearing the end of the shoot and the actors were starting to become very restless, which made filming the action scenes exceedingly difficult since no one cared about filming anymore.  After seeing all 3 shorts though, they all wanted to make another.

All told, the shot ratio (amount of footage shot compared to the amount of footage used) was about 10:1.
